I’m not saying I’m the best graphic designer in Colorado Springs but for SEO purposes, this blog just might pull in a few extra clients.
At Hi-five Design, it’s pretty much just me doing whatever it takes to design cool stuff. Hi-five design offers graphic design, web design, wall graphics and illustrations in Colorado Springs, Denver and surrounding areas. A new client of mine GK Records, is starting a record label. So he asked me to put together a logo design for his rap / hip hop record label. This is definitely the first time I’ve designed a logo for a record label, really anything music related. If you can’t tell there’s a bit of American (aka China Motors) automobile influence in there. Yes the client was advised of trademark infringement laws.
Here’s a finance logo design for Focused Compounding out of Dallas, TX. These guys are starting a WordPress blog about finance and investing, focusing on the Punch Card theory. I’ll start building the site early next week. To get a feel for the design of the site, I first started with the logo (as always). Being that the concept is built around the Punch Card theory, I incorporated that feel into the logo design by adding the numbered circles. I don’t like to overwhelm a design with too much clutter but the numbers are soft and not overbearing, so they work.
Here’s another logo concept for Cloud Nine Marketing. This logo design has some flow which makes it a bit playful and almost a bit whimsical-ee.
I reworked my friend Jon’s pine cone logo. He liked my previous design but wanted to incorporate Fibonacci’s Golden Spiral into the design. Here’s what I came up with. The font from the previous design still seems to work so I kept it.
Here’s another logo concept for Cloud Nine Marketing. The client wanted to incorporate sun rays / sunshine into the design so that’s what I did. I started with a some simple shapes and went from there. Nothing ground breaking here but a simple and recognizable design. Lets see what she thinks.
Logo concept for Cloud Nine Marketing out of the east coast. I gently incorporated the number nine into the clouds. Didn’t want to make it too noticeable. The font is built from scratch. It’s a bit playful but still feels professional.
Here’s a pine cone logo design for my hippy buddy Jon. I’ve known this guy since we were 10 years old, over twenty years. Still the same old Jon, love this guy. He’s a traveling musician that makes/sells some amazing jewelry out of Colorado pine cones. Jon travels around the country with his girlfriend living out of their van, doing whatever it takes to keep liv’n the good life. The rest of us suckers are settling for big mortgage payments and 401Ks. Keep up the hustle my friend.
I’ve been working on some branding for Heroes Home Care out of Colorado Springs. Logo, letterhead, business cards, etc. Below is a mockup for a business card design. This is home care so I didn’t go with anything too flashy, keeping it simple and bold. I think about the audience who’s receiving the information and it reminds me to keep everything crisp and legible. Not that I ever design anything too outlandish, just putting it out there.
Heroes Home Care out of Colorado Springs asked us to put together a website design mockup for them. Below is my breakdown of the homepage along with a JPEG mockup. All images are temporary fillers but you get the idea. Designing sites in Illustrator, prior to actual construction, is a great way get a good visual reference of the direction you’re going to go in. It can also save you a ton of time. Work smarter, not harder ding-dong.
Header – Logo followed by call-to-action on the left
Menu – Services will have a sub menu for the services offered.
Main photo – This area can be a slider to navigate through various images or services offered however I don’t think it’s necessary. I like the single image with your logo and slogan, along with another call-to-action. I imagine the audience isn’t going to be too tech savvy, simple is better. This image is nice, would be better with a senior veteran in place of the elderly lady.
About us – Simple message that lets the audience know what you do and the area you serve. This will help with SEO as well.
Services – Simple and direct, each image will link to a separate page about each service with detailed information.
Testimonials – We can rotate out new testimonials as needed, this is great for building trust with new clients.
Call us today – Another call-to-action (I use the word call instead of contact because I know how important it is to have that personal experience with someone and emails just don’t deliver). I think you’re more likely to get someones business by making it personal.
Footer – Another logo for brand awareness with a short description about your business. Followed by navigation and contact info.
