In the last couple of weeks, we’ve all come to notice this powerful grip that has taken hold of our lives. It’s changed our entire trajectory, the way we act, the way we think, the way we communicate with one another. By no fault other than our own, we instantly stopped progressing as a civilization. Rather than having a look around and thinking for ourselves, we let the media do the thinking for us. This new found fear has crippled us, leaving us unable or unwilling to think rationally. Infectious and all encompassing, we spread it like a plague with every breath we take, and speak of things which we claim to understand, but never question it’s veracity. But one thing is for certain, we are truly in survival mode, thinking not of our neighbors well being, but solely our own. There is plenty to go around, no need to ravage the aisles in an attempt to hoard food and supplies from others. We are not spooked cattle and we are not our primitive ancestors. It’s time we snap out of this apocalyptic trance and use this uneasy time as an opportunity to slow down. Take this precious time and spend it with your children, give an old friend a call, or simply look up to the sky and be thankful to be alive and breathing in this great time of change. “You are the master of your ship”. It is a choice whether we become triumphant in the face of fear, or coward back to our shell. We are human beings and our potential is infinite. So take a deep breath, count to ten and begin to move fearlessly throughout. I for one will not let fear take hold of my inner peace, nor my inner strength, nor my ability to persevere. Together we will move forward fearlessly, and one day look back at this moment and smile, knowing that our drunken, foolish behavior was nothing more than a reminder to ourselves of who we are and where we are going. For we only needed to catch our breath and get back on track.
